HHSL Safety Systems Limited – Specialist in Safety & Emergency Response Training, Manpower, Equipment Sales & Consultancy Services.
Incorporated in 1994 by Founder and Managing Director H. Anthony Vieira, a 10,000 hour Helicopter Pilot, Hummingbird Helicopter Services Limited commenced operations with the provision of Passenger and Ground Handling Services to esteemed clients in the local Helicopter Industry. This service included passenger, baggage and freight screening as well as aircraft dispatch and handling.
The demand for Hummingbird’s services grew to include the provision of Contract Pilots and Engineers to the Helicopter Industry.
Hummingbird, through its visionary Managing Director Captain H. Anthony Vieira was the first Company to introduce offshore survival training for the energy sector to Trinidad and Tobago and the region in 1997.
Having established a name for quality, efficiency and reliability, Hummingbird’s services on offer grew further to encompass other ancillary services required by the industry such as Aviation Security Services (Training and Manpower), Property and General Management Services.
Based on the exponential increase in the demand for services provided by Hummingbird, it became necessary to create divisions dedicated to the various services on offer. As such, Hummingbird or the Hummingbird Group as we have come to be familiarly known now consists of the following Companies:

DIRECTORS:
H. Anthony Vieira: Founder and Managing Director and a Helicopter Pilot by profession, Capt. Anthony Vieira holds an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) for Helicopters and has acquired over 10,000 hours of accident-free flying on the Bell series including 206/212/412 as well as MBB BO-105 and Sikorsky S-76. He also holds an FAA Part 107 SUAS Rating.
Capt. Vieira has successfully completed several courses from the University of Southern California including Aircraft Accident Investigations, Human Factors in Aviation Safety, Legal Aspects of Aviation Safety, Accident/Incident Response Preparedness, Helicopter Accident/Incident Investigations and completed in February 2005, the final module titled Aviation Safety Management Systems, which qualified him for the award of the prestigious USC’s AVIATION SAFETY CERTIFICATE, a credential which indicates that the recipient has acquired particular expertise in the field of Aviation Safety.
Capt. Vieira introduced Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) to Trinidad in 1997 and has trained with several International companies in the US and UK including Marine Survival Training Center, Nutec, Learn To Return (LTR) and Stark Survival Systems and is a certified Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Waste Instructor.
C. Agna Da Costa-Vieira: Director Administration and a result oriented and service driven professional, Ms. Da Costa-Vieira’s diverse experience in the aviation industry is no doubt an asset to the organisation. Having commenced her career in the industry as a Traffic Agent with BWIA International Airways in 1984, she worked her way up to Executive Management until her departure in 1998. Some of the positions held during her distinguished career at BWIA included but were not limited to Quality Assurance with responsibility for setting and maintaining operational and service standards, Corporate Director In-Flight Services with responsibility for the administration of three hundred + Cabin Crew, and Director Airport Services with overall responsibility for sixteen (16) international stations. Ms. Da Costa-Vieira served as Ground Services Manager on contract to Air Caribbean from September 1999 to October 2000, with responsibility for standards and airport operations.
Mrs. Da Costa-Vieira successfully transformed approximately 2000 square meters of the Old South Terminal Building at Piarco International Airport in November 2003, to create a safe, secure, regulatory compliant and user friendly Passenger Terminal and Conference Centre for the relocation of Bristow Caribbean Limited’s helicopter operations from Galeota Point. The initial phase of the project was completed in one (1) month with no disruption to the client’s operations and no incident, accident or injury time recorded.
To date at the Hummingbird Group Ms. Da Costa-Vieira has spearheaded several projects to include the enhancement of Training Facilities to accommodate a continuously growing client base and the implementation of Quality and HR Systems in support of a continuously evolving business model. Ms. Da Costa-Vieira has achieved certification in Project Management, Corporate Governance, and Dispute Resolution.
