OPITO is the global, not-for-profit, skills body for the energy industry.

More than 350,000 people are trained to OPITO standards every year, across 45 countries through 200 accredited training centres.

With operation centres in four regions - UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas - OPITO is driving safety and competency improvements to benefit the industry.

The industry-owned organisation also works with governments, national oil companies, operators and contractors, offering a range of services and products to meet international skills, needs and support workforce development.

Robotic Inspection Technology

There are different kinds of robotic solutions in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry, ranging from subsea systems that are remotely operated to mobile robotic systems for topside use that perform inspections and maintenance operations on assets. Systems range from tailor-made solutions by inspection companies (and are therefore not commercially available) to commercially available inspection systems. The majority of these robotic systems have implemented a limited number of inspection technologies; these include, amongst others, visual and camera systems (most of the robot systems are fitted with visual inspection systems), UT sensors for thickness gauging, and magnetic or electromagnetic systems.

Remote Observation Vehicles (ROVs)

Deep Trekker ROVs offer an easy, fast and effective way to perform hull inspections, dock inspections and virtually any task that requires immediate eyes under the water.

Emergency hull inspections, nighttime inspections, ballast tank inspections, and marina checks are easily completed with Deep Trekker remotely operated vehicles. Boat, yacht or vessel owners now have a way to monitor the status of their hull without needing to dry dock it or send divers into unknown areas. This inturn gives them the opportunity to address any potential issues at the outset, avoiding higher repair costs and further damage to one’s hull. If an ROV boat inspection reveals any damage, you will know exactly where to send your repair team.

The ROV’s spherical shape and patented pitching system allows you to effortlessly maneuver it into tight spots. The internal battery power prevents the need for excessive cord management, which further simplifies the ROV’s operation. What’s more, the lack of the need for connectivity to a generator or topside box means you can deploy the ROV from anywhere on the vessel or docks — even in the most remote locations. In addition, we have several ROV attachments available, such as a thickness gauge, which allow you to see specific measurements about your vessel.
